Having lived and married in the local area for near on 15 years we have used different tradespersons for multitudes of projects. In that time I have met the good, the bad, and the indifferent. Of the four electricians I have used only one cut the mustard. The other three were guilty of amongst other things sloppy work (that doesn’t become evident until you open the socket up later); charging on a whim (or on the basis of the size of your house and driveway); and lack of transparent pricing both on the invoices and when initially quoted. In other words, we paid for services out of desperation and need and not through transparency and confidence in the service offered. The one exceptional electrician left the role for a permanency position as a technician.
Trusted Support for Challenging Home Repairs
This led me to retrain and whilst now qualified I am still building ongoing skills and abilities, with a focus upon those multitudes of small electrical jobs, repairs and faults that many electricians, and especially larger firms, do not want because they feel they are not worth their while. Another reason for refusing electrical work is because of the difficulty in giving a fair appraisal of how long, and therefore ‘how much’, a job will take when it is not clear what is the condition of the home being entered and the electrical installation inside. Some older homes have a consumer unit shoe-horned into the smallest of kitchen cupboards making all work around this twice as difficult, and much longer to complete.
